Privacy & confidentiality

Dublin City SLT protects your personal information according to relevant data protection standards, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Personal information is collected with your consent. The following data may be collected: healthcare records, educational records, clinical records, general administrative records, and financial records.

Healthcare record data may include:

  • Contact details

  • Personal details

  • Birth and medical history

  • Educational history

  • Reports from other healthcare professionals

 

Educational record data may include:

  • School reports, Individual Educational Plans, and copies of school assessments

 

Clinical record data may include:

Data relating to your child’s communication skills may be collected and securely stored. This includes assessment forms, progress notes, reports, emails, audio and video files.

 

General administrative record data may include:

  • Information relating to appointment scheduling, attendance and accident reports.

 

Financial record data may include:

  • Information relating to payments made online, by card or by cash. Card and bank details, receipts and invoices.

 

Information shared through contact forms or bookings is used only to respond to enquiries, to arrange appointments, and to provide services. Personal information relating to children is provided by the parent or legal guardian. All information is stored securely and accessed only when needed. It will not be shared with third parties unless required by law, where consent has been provided, or where there is concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child, in line with safeguarding responsibilities. While reasonable steps are taken to protect your information, no method of online transmission is completely secure. Records are kept only for as long as required to meet professional and legal obligations. They are securely deleted when no longer required. You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your information, and you may withdraw consent where applicable.  

Appointments & Cancellations

If you need to cancel an appointment, please do so as soon as possible so that we can offer your child’s appointment to another child in need. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations within this timeframe will be charged in full. A cancellation made more than 24 hours in advance will not be charged. If you do not attend a scheduled appointment, and do not let us know, this will be charged in full. Dublin City SLT reserves the right to reschedule or cancel appointments where necessary.

Payment

Payment is required to confirm bookings. All bookings are subject to our cancellation policy. Payment may be taken in advance or on the day of the session. Payments may be made securely online, or by card or cash on the day. Where refunds are issued, any processing fees may be deducted.

Private Health & Funding

Receipts will be provided for all sessions. Private health insurance coverage for Speech and Language Therapy varies depending on your policy and provider. Dublin City SLT does not guarantee eligibility for reimbursement, so it is recommended that you check this directly with your insurer. Dublin City SLT is not responsible for any decisions made by insurers regarding claims or reimbursement.

Professional Standards

Dublin City SLT operates in line with professional standards, ethical guidelines, and evidence-based practice relevant to Speech and Language Therapy. Our team are CORU registered and our services align with CORU professional standards. Appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance is in place. Our team are members of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT).
